Summer is the perfect time to ditch your schedule and stay up too late watching movies with your kiddos. No one has to wake up the next morning and get ready for school so you may as well make the most of the moment right? In your blissful happiness you may not notice the popcorn butter handprints on your couch until the stain has already set in. The next morning you wake up and you see popcorn butter handprints on your beautiful couch and the panic starts. We have good news for you – you can get rid of those stains with the following tips!
Option 1 for How to Get Butter Stains out of Your Couch
Our first option will require cornstarch, a vacuum, dishwashing detergent, a white cotton cloth, and white paper towels. First sprinkle cornstarch over the oil until the stain is covered with the cornstarch. Let the cornstarch sit for 15 minutes to allow it to absorb the oil. Using your upholstery brush attachment, vacuum the cornstarch off of your couch. Get your white cotton cloth and put three drops of liquid dish detergent on it. Wet the cloth with warm water until suds begin to form. Take the soapy cloth and blot the oil stain. Dampen a second white cloth with warm water. Use this second cloth on the spot to rinse out the detergent from your couch. Take your paper towels and blog your couch until it is thoroughly dry. Repeat the process is necessary.
Option 2 for How to Remove Popcorn Grease Stains out of Your Sofa
The next option is similar to the first but with a few different ingredients. This option may work more effectively for your stains that have been set for a long time. The second option requires a dull plastic utensil, paper towels, baking soda, your vacuum, dry-cleaning solvent, clean cloth, and white vinegar. Your first step is to use the dull plastic utensil to scrape away the dried grease. If the stain is still wet you can use paper towels to remove as much of the grease as possible. Next sprinkle baking soda over the stain until the stain is completely covered. Let the baking soda sit on the stain for 15 to 20 minutes to allow it to absorb as much grease as possible. Use your brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove the baking soda from the couch. Get your clean cloth and dampen it with dry-cleaning solvent. Sponge the solvent onto the stain with your cloth. Use a clean dry cloth to remove the residual stain. Look closely at the stain. If some of the stain is still there mix together one tablespoon of dish soap with two cups of warm water and one tablespoon white vinegar. Sponge the solution onto the stain with a clean sponge or cloth. Blot the area with a clean damp cloth to remove the stain. Get your baking soda back out and cover the stain again. This time the baking soda will help absorb the moisture from the solution your just applied. One the baking soda has absorbed the liquid you will want to use your vacuum one last time to vacuum up the baking soda once the area is dry.

Trying to stay on top of the cleaning that is required in a house can be overwhelming. If you are not organized and prepared to keep up with the cleaning the house can become a mess. Most people have some sort of schedule on how often they run their vacuum, clean the bathroom and have deep cleaning done. The carpets are one of the areas that will require a professional cleaning on a regular basis. It will help to protect the carpet and ensure that it will last. One area of your house cleaning that you may have overlooked is the mattress. Not the sheets and blankets but the actual mattress that you are sleeping on. You want to make sure that you take care of the mattress and keep it clean. There are some parts of keeping the mattress cleaning that you are not able to do on your own and will need to call a professional. Once it has been professionally cleaned you want to do your part to keep it clean.
Go Green Carpet Cleaning & Restoration Offers Mattress Cleaning Tips
Professional Mattress Cleaning: You want to call a professional that has the equipment and tools to clean a mattress properly. Your mattress is going to collect all the dirt and debris as you use it and sleep on it at night. This is going to be debris such as sweat, dirt, skin cells, hair and pet dander. If you allow all this debris to stay on the mattress it can literally weigh it down over time. This can lead to your mattress losing some cushion and might affect how well you sleep at night. After you have your mattress cleaned you want to make sure that you do what you can to keep it clean.
Cover the Mattress: After it has been cleaned the best thing that you can do is to use something to cover the mattress. You can go out and purchase a cover that can be zipped around the mattress to block most of the debris from landing on the actual mattress. The cover can be taken off and put in the laundry as often as you need.
Clean Your Sheets: You also have a secondary cover that is on your mattress which happens to be your sheets. The sheets are laid on the mattress so that you are not laying straight on the mattress of padding. You want to make sure that you take your sheets off and wash them on a regular basis. Most people will have a second set of sheets so that there is always a clean set to put on. This will wash away the debris that is on the sheets instead of allowing it to get on the actual mattress.
Vacuum Mattress: You can also use your vacuum the same way that you use it on your carpets. You can take the sheets off the bed when you are ready to wash them and use the hose attachment to run over the surface of your bed. This will help to keep down the amount of debris that is settling on the surface which overtime can get deep down in the mattress.

This time of year, ranch dips and dressings are especially popular. They are frequently paired with dishes, or side condiments in conjunction with chips and veggies. This mouth-watering addition is often seen at many food related events such as parties, get-togethers, and normal meals. Celery and carrots along with chips in their varieties are dipped in ranch dressing, fried chicken, chicken wings, and other food flavors are enhanced with this wonderful condiment. But with so many options for it being served with and seen at many different eating indulgent times, the risk of it landing on the carpets is reasonably high. One of the worst places for ranch dressing to contact is carpet. It will stain quickly, and it can be difficult to remove, especially the longer it sits. With ranch dressing staining your carpets, the eyes sores can be distracting and make an otherwise pristinely kept room look unkempt. Today, we at Go Green Carpet Cleaning & Restoration would like to share a method on how you can remove the ranch/dressing from off of your carpets.
Carpet Stain Removal Tools & Equipment
Collect the following:
– Plain White Paper Towels
– Few Clean White Cloths
– Dry White Towel
– Blunt Edged Tool (Spoon or Butter Knife)
– Squirt Bottle
– 1 tsp Non-Bleach Laundry Detergent
– 32 oz Warm Water
Or
– Preferred Commercial Carpet Stain Remover
How Do I Get a Ranch Dressing Stain Out of Carpet
1) Before treating the potential stain, remove the bulk off the carpet’s surface. While going about this task, avoid spreading the dressing out and smashing it into the fibers. Use your blunt edged tool, spatula, spoon, or butter knife, to gently scoop the mass of ranch dressing of the surface. Use the paper towels to wipe it off the tool as you and then toss the paper towel when you are done.
2) Whether you use our home remedy solution or a commercial carpet cleaner, always perform a patch test in an inconspicuous location to ensure the carpet won’t be compromised. If you opt for the commercial carpet stain remover, be sure to follow the directions on the label. For the DIY formula, mix 1tsp non-bleach laundry detergent with 32 ounces of warm water and use the squirt bottle for easy application.
3) Administer your preferred cleaner on the affected area; do not over saturate. Allow the homemade formula to sit on the ranch dressing spill for at least 5 minutes. This gives the solution time to break down the dressing ingredients to make removal easier.
4) Dampen a clean, white cloth with plain water and blot the affected area. Be sure to begin blotting on the exterior of the spot and work your way to the center to contain the ranch dressing residue from spreading. DO not rub or scrub as you treat the spot, this will only for the dressing into the fibers, making residues harder to get out.
5) To avoid over saturation, use a few paper towels to blot out the excess moisture. Once the ranch dressing is gone, use a squirt bottle to apply pure water to the area and use a dry towel to absorb as much water as possible to remove the cleaner residue and moisture.

If homeowners wrote a list of their worst fears regarding their homes, what would be on that list? Fire, theft, and water damage would definitely be high on most homeowners’ fears. Though nothing can guarantee that your home will be safe from fire, theft, and flooding; there are things that homeowners can do to help prevent fire, theft, and flooding in their homes. At Go Green Carpet Cleaning and Restoration we see firsthand the devastation and damage from water heater floods. We are always here to help clean up and restore your home from flooding in your home due to water heaters, but we would love to help your family avoid having to deal with flooding by sharing these helpful tips.
Causes of Water Heater Leaking
According to the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety, the number one cause of water heaters springing a leak is ignoring needed maintenance. Most water heaters are not located where they are in your daily line of vision and many homeowners tend to forget about the importance of properly maintaining their water heaters to avoid leaks or bursts.
Replacement of Water Heater Anode Rod
The anode rod is a sacrificial metal rod in your water heater’s tank. The purpose of the anode rod is to deteriorate so that your tank does not deteriorate. The rod is designed to eventually completely rust away. If the rod isn’t replaced, rust will begin to form in the tank. The rust will weaken the tank and eventually cause it to leak or burst. An inspection of the anode rod and replacement is an easy task for homeowners to complete. There are videos online to show you how to replace the anode rod. It is recommended that you replace your anode rod around the time your water heater warranty expires.
Test Temperature & Pressure Relief Valve
Another safety measure homeowners frequently forget is to “exercise” the temperature and pressure relief valve on your water heater. Opening the valve for five seconds every six months will help you see that water can come out of the valve and that the valve closes after being opened. As your water heater heats the water needed for your home, it creates pressure in your tank. When an unsafe amount of pressure builds up in your tank, your temperature and pressure relief valve will open and release a small amount of water. If it is functioning properly, after releasing the water it will automatically close again. Simply checking to make sure that the valve both opens and closes properly can prevent your water header from bursting.
Flush Gas Water Heater
Flushing your water heater is an additional part of your water heater maintenance that can be overlooked. As your water heater functions, sediments can settle at the bottom of your tank. The sediments insulate your water from the burner at the bottom of the tank. This insulation makes your water heater work harder than necessary to heat water from your home. When your water heater works too hard it can overheat. Overheating slowly deteriorates the tank and causes a water leak. Experts recommend that you flush your water heater once a year.

The heat outside makes most people lose their appetite for hot foods. If you are eating something that has been cooked in the oven or on the stove it will end up heating you up as well. This will make an already uncomfortable situation even more uncomfortable. That is why many households will adjust their menu in the hot summer months. They will choose foods that are easy to put together and eat without using a heat source. A cold sandwich or a salad is a great way to go. To make a salad you just need to have some cold greens and vegetables that are cut up. Then you can dressing it with your favorite flavor dressing. If you have a bowl of salad and it happens to fall on the carpet you have a stain that you need be able to clean. You want to make sure that the method that you use is right and will remove the stain.
Go Green Carpet Cleaning & Restoration Outlines How to Clean Salad Dressing Stains from Your Carpet
Spoon Up Excess Spill: You might be thinking that you actually need a fork to eat a salad so why would you need a spoon. Yes you need to use a fork to eat the salad but if you need to clean the dressing off the carpet you will need to use a spoon. The spoon is necessary when you want to get the excess picked up instead of spreading it around. You can use the spoon to scoop at the dressing that is still on top of the carpet. You can then repeat the process several times if you need to but be sure that you rinse off the spoon between each time. Once you have gotten as much off as you can you can move on to the next step.
Use Baking Soda to Remove Moisture from Carpet: The next step has nothing to do with baking a fresh batch of cookies. It is the same ingredient that you would use in cookies but you can use it as a way to remove moisture. Lay some of the baking soda over the area that you are trying to clean. You want to let it to sit in place for about ten minutes so that the moisture is pulled away from the carpet and into the baking soda. Then you can use the vacuum to clean off the powder and in the mean time you are taking the moisture with it, Now you can use a cleaning solution to take the rest of the stain off the carpet.
Clean Stain from Carpet: You want to now work on removing the stain from the carpet that usually is best done with a homemade cleaner. This cleaning solution will treat the discoloration as well as the oil that most dressings have as an ingredient. You want to mix warm water with dish detergent and incorporate it fully. Then add vinegar to the solution which will help to break down the oil. Soak a rag and dab at the spot that needs to be cleaned. You can repeat this with a clean cloth if needed.
